1. A person who vigorously supports their country and is prepared to defend it against enemies or detractors.
Last Friday we had a staff lunch together on the Island. We had pizza, and wings, and rounded it all out with our very own Turtle Brownies. It was a feast of favorite foods.
We laughed, we talked, we hugged and we cried.
We had lunch together to honor one of our own.
O.B., our Operations Supervisor, is a Sergeant in the Army. He has been called to duty in the Middle East for a yearlong tour.
I had the privilege to write his staff bio last year and he shared his thoughts on teamwork and leadership. He said “What makes me a good leader is my team, without a team there is no me.” He has built our Production Staff into more than a team – into a family. He is quick with a smile and even quicker with an “Oh Snap!” He keeps us together and on track. He is our glue.
"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." -- John Quincy Adams
What he is doing, placing himself in dangerous situations is all for us. He believes in protecting our Country – he is a patriot in its highest sense of that word!
He may not be on the Island every day, but he will be watching us….we presented him with a blow up of his staff photo, with a write on/wipe off cover so we can all put words in his “mouth” while is overseas. They will all start with “Oh Snap” of course.
We are going to miss you O.B. – but know that you will be back soon.
To O.B., and all of our enlisted everywhere, we send a heartfelt Thank You. Your sacrifices keep us safe and we value each and every one of you.
"True patriotism isn't cheap. It's about taking on a fair share of the burden of keeping America going." -- Robert Reich
